Other Abstract:	Education and training in analysis, synthesis and repackaging of information is considered an effective solution to the production of appropriate information to suit the needs of defined groups of users. In 1986, Unesco proposed a course, together with a handbook, meant particularly to be used in developing countries. The substance of the handbook gives a clear understanding of the phase of information services, called information consolidation, when information from the original documents is analyzed, synthesized, and repackaged into a new product. A brief account of 3 producers of consolidated information is given as examples.
