| Other Abstract: | This article highlights a new innovation of modern technology on information storage and retrieval system, that is CD-ROM or Compact Discs Read Only Memory. The article begins with the description of characteristics, opening system, and advantages and disadvantages of this type of laser disc. It then touches on the CD-ROM databases, particularly those which apply with the library information services. Major acclaimed and popularly used databases are explicated, including LaserQuest, BiblioFile, AGRICOLA, LISA, MEDLINE, ERIC, DAO, BIP and OSH-ROM. |
