| Other Abstract: | The author who attended the IFLA Pre-session Seminar on “Education and Training of Library, Information and Archives Personnel : Move Towards Harmonization” and the IFLA 53th Council and General Conference, by the invitation of IFLA, shares her experience with the readers. The article begins with a brief account on IFLA, its objectives, and scope of work through the Core Programmes and Divisions. She moves on to report on the Conference at Brighton, detailing all the topics of discussion to give an overview of current issues of concern and interest, then gives a number of essential remarks on preservation and conservation, distance education, harmonization in curriculum development, with particular given to long-term planning and co-operation, which are reflected evidently throughout the organization of the 1987 Conference. |
