Other Abstract:	The development of information centers, and principles of information storage and retrieval, are discussed. Causes of information needs are pointed out. Role and function of information centers are described as an outgrowth of attempts to meet special information needs of researchers. The significant role of information specialist in information analysis and service is emphasized. Information services may be more effective if they concentrate their efforts on the particular in information needs of ultimate users.
