Other Abstract:	Lists the traditional library tasks and confirms or reassigns them on the basis of the following concept that—a nonhierarchically structured library, operated by a small syndicate of specialists under the chairmanship of a chief librarian, is easily attainable and very practical. Gives the list and explains subsequently the significance of the tasks to illustrate the application of the concept. Identifies what is the true work of an elite librarian and what is not, and what relates to library power and what is irrelevant to it.
