Other Abstract:	Discusses the library’s role in education by quoting the ideas and concepts of many western scholars. Attempts to denote to the fact that library power in self-education is as much noticeable as its connections with the formal education system. Criticizes that aparts from the problems of the government’s ignorance of the role of libraries in education, the librarians themselves also pose problems as they do not interpret their own role correctly. Analyzes the librarian’s role in education, and argues that the aims of education and the aims of librarianship are not necessarily related. Examines the statements of the aims and functions of education and assesses whether they apply to librarianship also.
