| dc.description.abstract | ชนกลุ่มน้อยทางตอนเหนือของประเทศไทยหรือที่เรียกว่า "ชาวเขา" มักถูกเสนอภาพอย่างมีอคติในสื่อมวลชนและปริจเฉทสาธารณะอื่นๆ ว่าเป็นผู้ทำลายป่า ค้ายาเสพติด และเป็นภัยต่อประเทศ ความคิดที่ฝังแน่นและเป็นไปในทางลบเช่นนี้ถูกถ่ายทอดผ่านกระบวนการขัดเกลาทางสังคมและหนังสือเรียนซึ่งเป็นการตอกย้ำแนวคิดเรื่อง "ตัวตน" และ "ผู้อื่น" ในสังคมไทย งานวิจัยนี้มุ่งวิเคราะห์อุดมการณ์ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับชนกลุ่มน้อยเหล่านี้ในปริจเฉทสื่อมวลชนภาษาไทย ประเด็นหลักของงานคือ มีความคิดที่แตกต่างกันเกี่ยวกับชนกลุ่มน้อยในการเสนอภาพของพวกเขาผ่านบทความประเภทข่าวในหนังสือพิมพ์ และรายการโทรทัศน์ งานวิจัยนี้ต้องการตอบคำถามต่อไปนี้ (1) เราจะสรุปวิธีการที่ผู้สื่อข่าวเขียน พูด และเล่าเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับชาวเขาได้อย่างไรบ้าง (2) มีลักษณะทางความหมายและทางปริจเฉทอะไรบ้างที่มีการนำมาใช้ และ (3) มีอุดมการณ์ที่ขัดแย้งกันอะไรบ้างที่สามารถสรุปได้จากแหล่ง "พูดคุย" ต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวกับชนกลุ่มน้อย แหล่งข้อมูลสำคัญของการศึกษานี้คือข่าวหน้าหนึ่งในหนังสือพิมพ์ภาษาไทยและรายการโทรทัศน์ทุ่งแสงตะวัน นอกจากนี้ ข้อมูลยังมาจากการสัมภาษณ์นักหนังสือพิมพ์และผู้จัดรายการโทรทัศน์อย่างไม่เป็นทางการ ผลการวิจัยได้แก่ (1) นักหนังสือพิมพ์ไทยมีวิธีการเสนอข่าวเกี่ยวกับชาวเขาในทำนองลบ ในขณะที่รายการโทรทัศน์มีปริจเฉทที่ต่างออกไป (2) ลักษณะทางความหมายและทางปริจเฉทที่นำมาใช้มีเช่น คำศัพท์ อุปลักษณ์ และการเลือกเน้นผู้กระทำหรือผู้ถูกกระทำ (3) หนังสือพิมพ์มองชนกลุ่มน้อยในภาพลบเป็นส่วนใหญ่ซึ่งต่างจากโทรทัศน์ งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการเพิ่มความรู้เกี่ยวกับวิธีที่เราพูดคุยเกี่ยวกับกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์หรือกลุ่มวัฒนธรรมอื่นและวิธีการที่เรารักษาความเป็นตัวตนของเราโดยแบ่งแยกตัวเราจากผู้อื่น | en |
| dc.description.abstractalternative | Ethnic minorities in Northern Thailand, the so-called chaokhao 'hilltribes', have been stereotypically portrayed in the media and other forms of public discourses as forest destroyers, drug traffickers, and threats to the nation. These stereotypes have been reproduced through socialization and school textbooks, reinforcing the notions "self" and "other" in Thai society. This study seeks to explicate ideologies concerning these ethnic minorities in Thai media discourse. The major aguments are that there are conflicting views on them as represented in newspaper reports, and television programs. The research addresses the following questions: (1) what can be concluded about the ways journalists write, talk, and tell stories about hilltribe people, (2) what specific semantic and discursive features are employed, and (3) what contrastive ideologies can be derived from the different sources of "talks" about these ethnic groups. The main sources of data are front-page news in several Thai newspapers and productions from Thoong Saeng Tawan, a weekly TV series. Informal interviews with TV producers as well as newspaper columnists are conducted. The study concludes that racism still pervades in Thai news discourse. It sheds light into an emerging body of research on how we talk about other cultural and ethnic groups and how we maintain our identities by alienating the other. | en |
